Serving Children From Near and Far
Patients come from around the globe for cutting-edge transformative care. They also serve more patients in remote areas who can’t travel due to their conditions or location. SHC medical teams deploy to provide them with emergency assistance, outreach clinics and education for treatment and care.
Meet Ana
At only four months old, Ana was severely burned when her family home in Mexico caught fire. Her mother was devastated when doctors told her that both of Ana’s legs would need to be amputated. Determined not to allow this to happen, Ana’s mother brought her to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Using best practices developed from SHC’s burn injury research on molecular response, Ana received care. Their interdisciplinary team treated Ana for two years and she did not require leg amputation. Ana has made a tremendous recovery and is back to the activities she loves!
